"You Guys Are Warriors" -Bishop Silva

Bom dia meus amados,  We had a pretty busy but cool week down here in good ol' Itapecuru. First off, it's miracle time! Romão was baptized yesterday after we had a special meeting and lunch with the Bishop, his wife, and stake young women's presidency members. He is excited to get sealed to Conceição and Ramon in the temple so that they can be an eternal family! He will also be a wonderful leader of the Church here in this city! A couple of months from now, he will be able to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and the creation of a branch will almost certainly be approved! Yesterday in our sacrament meeting, the second one to have happened in our new physical location, we counted 75 participants. As hard as that may seem to believe, Bishop, Conceição, Jerdel, all did counts individually based off of chairs and plates used and came to the same conclusion that 75 people had participated. That's just a bit different from the 10 that had gone one Sunday last month. After sa...

Busy week, and a very worthwhile one! While not yet 100% painted, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an official location here in the city of Itapecuru-Mirim, Maranhão (though we can technically only put "the Church of Jesus Christ" for now as it is not technically a church location)! Sister Conceição also got engaged and told us in a text that her fiancé wants to get baptized this Sunday, the day before the wedding! It is super exciting because we will be able to help him receive the Melchizedek Priesthood here soon as well! Those are the two things we are needing prayers for right now: Romão to be baptized and receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and the group atten...

Boa tarde meus queridos, I kind of left you all on a cliffhanger at the end of my last email, and it turns out that I really do have some exciting news for you all (more that I was expecting to talk about, in fact). I'll talk about the biggest miracles we had this week and then get to these exciting news as quickly as possible. First of all, it's miracle time. This week we had the opportunity to baptize two of Yan's friends (do you remember the young man we baptized the same day as Benedita?): Bruno and Warlyson. Bruno we had met last week while walking down the street and stopping to talk to Yan and Warlyson. We talked about the Stake Conference that would happen in São Luís, and he wanted to go as well. Long story short, he loved the messages there and wanted to become a member of the Church as well, so we helped him out with that. Warlyson we had met shortly after meeting Yan (the two are best friends). He had shown interest in being baptized before and enjoyed the mes...
