"Deu Gente, Né?" -Yan

Busy week, and a very worthwhile one!

While not yet 100% painted, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an official location here in the city of Itapecuru-Mirim, Maranhão (though we can technically only put "the Church of Jesus Christ" for now as it is not technically a church location)!

Yesterday, we held the "inauguration" and ended up hitting a record for sacrament meeting attendance... by 13 people! 45 people went, which means if we can maintain that over the next 3 months, the Church will approve the creation of a branch here and the members will have a real chapel!

Sister Conceição also got engaged and told us in a text that her fiancé wants to get baptized this Sunday, the day before the wedding! It is super exciting because we will be able to help him receive the Melchizedek Priesthood here soon as well!

Those are the two things we are needing prayers for right now: Romão to be baptized and receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and the group attendance to stay above 40. If we have those two things, the creation of a branch is almost certain.

Bishop Silva got excited upon hearing the news, so he is coming down next weekend for us to do a big lunch with all of the members and visitors as well!

This week we are preparing Romão, Maria das Dores, Sara, and Wenderson for baptism. Please keep them in your prayers so that everything can go as planned!

Amanda and Benedita, two recent converts of mine, gave talks in church yesterday. They were both incredible, but I especially enjoyed Amanda's. She is 11 years old and did not expect to give a talk in front of nearly 50 people. She gave an incredible talk about baptism, however, and then turned to us after finishing to ask, "can I bear my testimony, too?" I was just about tearing up after that. It just got better from there.

The work is progressing here in Itapecuru-Mirim and I am so eternally grateful for it! God is good! Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world! He has called modern prophets and apostles! How incredible is that!?!

Love you all! I thank you all! Have a WONDERFUL week and let me know how life's treating you!

Sincerely,
Élder Lindsay
