2 Meters Tall (And 1 Centimeter)

Gooooood evening friends and family, Well what do you know? My newest "son" has got me by about a foot and a half! He's a stud muffin, though, so I'm not too worried about it: a big teddy bear. He was baptized four years ago after trying to make fun of the missionaries one day as they walking down the street, marking a return appointment, and being touch by the Holy Ghost. For now he is the only member in his family, and he decided to serve a mission after receiving a spiritual prompting while watching General Conference. He enjoyed working with the missionaries in his ward back home, so he's already got a pretty decent understanding of what missionary work entails, and he's excited to be doing it. It's hard not to stay happy with a big, smilely guy like this always talking about how happy and exited he is to be in the mission field. The first highlight if the week: Leonard's baptism! We had already talked to him a bit before but had never taught him a...

"It Only Stays This Hot In September, October, November....." -Bishop Oliveira

Well hey there, Como vai pessoal?  Not a lot to report here from the part of the Lord's Vineyard here in Teresina, Brazil. It was a week of hard work, fechou. While we were unfortunately unable to help anybody here in the area enter the waters of baptism, we are teaching several folks who are headed in that direction. We had some folks visit the church yesterday and are planning on helping a friend of ours - Antonio - and his son - Samuel - make that decision this Saturday. That is just going to have to require a lot of praying on our part! He is an alcoholic who has been working on living the Word of Wisdom and stopped drinking once we started teaching him a few weeks back. He also has a nicotine addiction that we are trying to help him out with. He is really wanting to be baptized this Saturday, but in order to do that, he will need to get through this week without smoking even one cigarette. We all did a fast yesterday and are now praying, hoping, and praying some more...

Well hey there folks, Another week here in Big Wonderful HOT Teresina, Brasil. While the heat was high and the sun bright, the miracles that we were able to see this week were even brighter. For starters, we had the incredible opportunity to help four friends of ours enter the waters of baptism! Do you guys remember Iago from last week? Well he got to do something pretty darn cool this week; yesterday, after the sacrament meeting in the church, he was able to baptize his triplet siblings! The meeting was super spiritual, there were a bunch of people there to participate and show their support, and everybody was just happy. Before the sacrament meeting, we were able to help a new friend of ours - Lucas - be baptized as well. He had visited the church the week before and had been participating in seminary during the week. We asked him if that´s something he´d like to do, and he was all for it! We´re hoping he can do something similar and help his siblings be baptized this next week! Toda...
