"You Guys Are Warriors" -Bishop Silva

Bom dia meus amados,

We had a pretty busy but cool week down here in good ol' Itapecuru.

First off, it's miracle time! Romão was baptized yesterday after we had a special meeting and lunch with the Bishop, his wife, and stake young women's presidency members. He is excited to get sealed to Conceição and Ramon in the temple so that they can be an eternal family! He will also be a wonderful leader of the Church here in this city! A couple of months from now, he will be able to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and the creation of a branch will almost certainly be approved!

Yesterday in our sacrament meeting, the second one to have happened in our new physical location, we counted 75 participants. As hard as that may seem to believe, Bishop, Conceição, Jerdel, all did counts individually based off of chairs and plates used and came to the same conclusion that 75 people had participated. That's just a bit different from the 10 that had gone one Sunday last month. After sacrament meeting, we got a text from Irla, somebody we had invited, saying she and her friends want to be baptized next week. Rapaz, I think we can definitely help with that!

This came despite some major roadblocks during the week.

On Tuesday, right in the beginning of the week, we found out that Elder Lucas (my companion from the MTC) had gotten the dangue fever. This is a very rare illness spread by mosquitoes that causes symptoms like nausea, body aches, drowsiness, etc. for 7 days. He is serving in Chapadinha, an area 2 hours away that opened up very recently, and we were asked to do a division there so that his companion wouldn't have to sit around the house doing nothing all week. We went Tuesday afternoon and got back home Wednesday night.

Thursday we had spent the better part of the day with some church members from São Luís who helped us move from our old house to the new one above the Church. While the house is definitely smaller, the water actually works (no more taking showers with Coke bottles); there are no rats constantly running across and falling on the ceiling; and it much easier to clean (probably a lot due to the lack of rats).

THE CODY TEMPLE LOCATION HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED! I'm so so very excited to have a house of the Lord so close to home!

Love you all so much! Hope life's treating you well! Let me know how you're doing! It's always good to hear from you all!

Com muito amor,
Élder Lindsay

P.S. The áudios are in Portuguese, but just listen for the word "batismo" (bah-chee-zmo).
