"Eu Adorei" (I Adored It) -Antônia
Good morning all y'all,
Well, we're still out here preaching, teaching, walking, and burning here in this Teresina summer sun, but the Celestial kingdom has the glory of the sun, so if I want to make it there I guess I ought to get used to it now.
It was a good week of work here. We were able to find some pretty incredible people in the beginning of the week and will be helping them prepare to be baptized this coming Sunday.
We were at a lunch conversing with the members that had prepared it for us when one young woman talked about a friend that she had that had not been going to church for a few years. We asked if we could meet him and she set up an appointment for us later that day. We went there with her, met this guy (his name's Roni and he's a stud), and also met his two younger brothers: Nadson and Mateus.
Long story short, we shared a message with them, they want to be baptized now, and we're going to help Roni be ordained a priest so that he can do it himself.
Even though we had been working hard every day during the week, we were having issues finding people who wanted to know more about our message. We woke up Friday morning just wanting to find one more person. We felt that we needed to go to a certain neighborhood and set off for it first thing that morning. When we got to said neighborhood we felt that we ought to walk down a certain road. As we entered said road, we felt that we should walk to the end of it. At the end of that road we found a bar, and in that bar we found a woman,
"Hey Elders, how's it going?"
Other long story short, that's how we found Antônia, the other woman we're helping prepare for baptism this Sunday. She had already heard all of the lessons when her son was baptized last year but had some issues that prevented her from being baptized with him. They had temproarily moved to a friend's home (which just happens to also serve as a bar) while looking for a new house and lost contact with with church until we found them again. Her son - Francisco Wallyson - already is a priest and will be baptizing his mother this coming Sunday.
As much as I love baptizing folks, it is so much more meaningful when it is a family member or friend that does it. Please keep it in your prayers that everything works out this weekend!
Do you guys remember Lucas? I just about cried when he told me this past week that he would be going with the stake youth caravan to the temple in Fortaleza. It's just crazy to think that somebody that I helped find, teach, and baptized will soon be helping his family members on the other side of the veil do the same.
Conference was incredible! Absolutely loved being able to watch it in the church, Roni's home, and yes, even in that bar.
God is good folks! Jesus Christ is his Son! The Holy Ghost is a real thing! How I love the living prophet and twelve apostles! How I love this Gospel!
Take care y'all and have a great week! Be sure to shoot and email my way when you get the chance!
Love you all,
Élder Lindsay
