A Simple Invitation

Opa gente,

This week's highlight: José Carlos' baptism!

I love this guy so much, and one of the reasons for that is because he is so down-to-business. I know there's no smile in that photo, but I'd probably be more or less the same easy if I had lost my son so recently.

His family and we as missionaries are just so excited to help him continue progressing on this path: for now, baptism... one month from now, his first visit to the temple... and in the near future, being sealed with him family - including his son - for all time and eternity.

Just incredible to have played a small part in that story. How grateful I am to be able to testify for the folks here with situations like this that families really can be together forever, that the grave has no victory.

We are now working with a guy named Hiago. He is 21 years old and his younger brother was baptized a few years back. We went over to share a message with his family and he walked out of his room and we started talking to him. His brother had been baptized, many of his friends had been baptized, and are going to the church. We asked if he had had been baptized and he said no. He had visited the church several times, watched his friends and brothers be baptized, but had never been invited to do the same.

Well, we invited him and this Saturday will be him baptism. We hope that the week afterward he will be baptizing his other younger siblings. When we talked about that he got pretty darn excited.

That really made me think, "how many of our neighbors, friends, or even family members are missing out on the blessings of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ just because we simply haven't extended an invitation?"

I'm not saying we ought to go around asking everybody if they want to be baptized, but if we are so ready and willing to invite somebody to something as simple as a birthday party, why wouldn't we do the same with something so much more significant as these simple restored truths?

Is there somebody feeling down or alone? Talk about how the Gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to always have "the comforter" with us!

Has somebody lost a loved one? Let them know that they HAVEN'T seen them for the last time!

Let us be genuine. Let us show love. Let us do what Christ would do if he were here in his his physical form.

"Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing... that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste."

Alma 36:24

Love y'all. I always love hearing from all of you! I'm doing better with sending emails, but forgive me if I don't get one out to you to as today!

Take care!
Élder Lindsay
