"Paulo Ricardo Needs A New Pair Of Shoes!" -Irmã Domingas

Bom dia pessoal,

Como estão indo as coisas com vocês?

What another incredibly quick week! I feel like just yesterday I was sending one of these out for y'all!

Another week of miracles here in the group of Tutóia, Maranhão!

I've got to start off with the highlight: OS BATISMOS!

This week we were able to help baptize 3 folks - Domingas, her son Paulo Vitor, and Francisco (father of João Otávio who was baptized last week) - enter the waters of baptism and make their first covenant with Heavenly Father!

Along these three folks was Irmão Francisco. The man is a 78-year-old stud (the Tom Cruise "Maverick" look-alike standing next to me below). Shows that we are never too old to make a life change!

Thaylon (the youngest of the people that we baptized last week) and his brothers Max and Joelison helped us teach some lessons 3 or 4 days this week. I kick myself for not having taken a picture, but when he went out with us Thursday he went with dress pants, a collared white shirt, and even a little proseliting bag. He had only been a member for just over 4 days and was already talking about how excited he was to serve a mission when he gets to our age.

Another record in respect to sacrament meeting attendance: 28! While we did not meet our goal of 30, we are making some solid progress here. There is no doubt in my mind that it is thanks to the prayers you are sending out way.

Next week is transfers, and I am hoping and praying that I stay here. We are just starting to hit our stride! I know there is so much more to be done here in this city!

This week we'll be heading over to Parnaiba, Piauí for Zone Conference! That's always such a needed and spiritual experience.

"[B]lessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land.

Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."

Alma 26:36-37

Sometimes we all feel like "wanderers in a strange land," but be aware that God is mindful of YOU. He knows you, he loves you, he wants to hear from you. Talk to Him! Go to him with your concerns!

This week I saw His incredible power work in simple ways; we arrived at the homes of several people who were in tears because of feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. It was truly incredible to see how just talking about Him and sharing His word can turn a situation like this around on a dime.

We'll all feel lost at times, but Christ and our Heavenly Father are always ready to receive us with open arms if we will just do our part and recognize them, look for them through the darkness.

Love you all and appreciate all of your emails and prayers that are sent my way. Things are great here and I hope they keep going this way! Hope they are going equally as well for all of you!

Até a próxima semana,
Élder Lindsay
