"Vai Ter O Batizado" -Josélio
How's it going everybody?
It's crazy to think that it's already been another week and that I'm already sending another email out!
As always, I've got to start off with the miracles that we saw here in the not-so-little-any-more group of Itapecuru, Mirim.
This week we had the incredible opportunity to welcome 7 new members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through baptism, and as always, I was just so grateful to have played a part in it.
To start off, Josélio, Marilene, and Vinicius are a family that I had known for a long while. Due to some error in the Church's system, Josélio had shown up as a member that was baptized in Palmas, Tocantins, in 2001. We went to visit with him, though, and discovered that the day of the baptism he had missed the bus and the missionaries had moved away soon after. He moved to Itapecuru where the Church did not exist yet and stopped there. We tried teaching him, but opportunities to do it never appeared because of the amount of work commitments he had.
While walking home with Élder Pollock last Saturday night, I felt that we should swing back by. Josélio seemed excited this time and ended up walking to Church with his family last Sunday. After sharing the message of the restoration last Sunday together with Raimundo Nonato's family, they accepted a baptismal date for yesterday, and we spent the week teaching them and preparing them.
They were all baptized yesterday, and Josélio has already committed to being prepared to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, so if everything works out, he will be the 5th and final one for us to be able to become a branch.
Last week, my recent convert, Ivonete, told us that 3 friends that she had brought to church last week were wanting to be prepared to be baptized last Sunday as well. We taught them during this past week, Irla, Gabrielly, and Gleiziele were baptized yesterday together with Sarah, who we had found in a different neighborhood that turned out to be one of their best friends.
I am currently writing this email from Santa Inês, Maranhão. As I am an AP now, I get to participate and give trainings in zone conferences every once in a while, and today was the Santa Inês zone conference. Next week it's looking like I'll be in São Luís again.
Hardly a dull moment here! While certainly tiring, I am loving the work and the miracles that we have been seeing!
Please keep it in your prayers that we can keep our attendance over 50 and that Romão and Josélio both keep preparing to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood!
I love you and am so grateful for each and every one of you! Hope you have a great week and watch at least a little of the General Conference this weekend!
