Elder Lindsay Will Be Gone By Then. Maybe. -Elder Sterling
Hey all,
Hope you all had a great week! This update isn't going to be too long as the weeks continue to fly by down here, but it was a pretty enjoyable week down here in the UOM!
Exciting news! It turns out that original January 6th date was only tentative, but I have OFFICIALLY been informed I will be leaving for Brazil on the 13th. This one's actually official (at least I think so). I wasn't too disappointed because I also found out this week the mission will be visited by a surprise member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on the 8th, so I won't end up having to miss that! Travel plans on the 6th would have been a great present, but this opportunity is even better!
On Friday, we had the opportunity to go to the temple for the second time since I have been out in the field! It was, without a doubt, the most spiritual experience I have had in the temple so far in my life. And now that Elder Dallin Hoffman and I are in the same zone, we got to go together!
It has been pretty funny seeing each other as often as we do. When we tell other missionaries we were in the same graduating class of 53 students along with Elder Newman, it's pretty funny to see their different reactions. What are the chances?
On Saturday, we had a Christmas devotional up at the mission home in Lehi. We ate "spudnuts" and read the Christmas story from the perspective of those living in the Americas at the time as recorded in the Book of Mormon.
"Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets."
3 Nephi 1:13
During this Christmas season, please take a moment to think about Jesus Christ. Think about not only His birth, but His life, His Atonement, his example.
May we all strive to follow that perfect example not only for the next 5 days, but for the other 360 as well. There will always be a fellow son or daughter of God in our midst in need of YOUR light, YOUR efforts.
Love you all lots! Keep emailing me and telling me how life is! Your messages make every day just that much brighter!
Until next time,
