Tryptophan And Lots Of Goats
Good morning all,
Hope life is going well for all of you!
This past week was a less crammed one, so this update is going to be a shorter.
Thanksgiving Day I was able to eat Thanksgiving dinner with the family of Elder Eggett from my online MTC District! His dad served down in Belém, which included what is now the Teresina Mission at the time that he was serving. It was cool to be able to have a conversation about Brazil with somebody and get to know more about the area in which I will eventually be serving!
On Saturday, the Portuguese-speaking Sisters, our zone leaders, Elder Sterling, and I were all able to go down to the University Place Mall in Orem and man the "Giving Machines." I hadn't heard about them before, but they are basically vending machines where you buy goats, meals, vaccines, etc. for people in need across the world rather than a bag of Doritos for yourself. It was incredible and humbling to see how many people were willing to come by to donate and help out those in need!
Besides that, life has consisted of meeting with lots of members to share messages and trying to find more people that are interested in coming closer to Christ!
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him."
Moroni 7:46-47
I read this again the other day and just love the principle that these verses teach; when it comes down to it, the only thing we take with us into the next life has no monetary value. Rather it's value is eternal in nature.
The love that we develop when we form relationships with others, those experiences, are all that we take with us, and as it says in verse 47, those experiences "endureth forever."
What better time than this Christmas season (wow, that's crazy to say) than to form some of those relationships, make some of those memories that will last forever!
I love all of you and love hearing from you! If you would, please keep those travel plan prayers coming! They mean more than you know! I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving and stay warm as winter approaches!
Até mais,
