"Just Don't Die" -President Evanson

Olá a todos,

I'm afraid this update won't be all that exciting, but I'll still start with the highlights!

Wednesday was my first Zone Conference of the mission. It was a pretty great experience, complete with talks, trainings, and the bearing of the testimonies of all those who will be leaving at the end of this transfer, Elder Vess included. Pretty crazy to think that this transfer will be over in just over a week. I also got a flu vaccination, which will become more important toward the end of this email.

Today we had the opportunity to go to the studio of Angela Johnson, an incredibly talented sculptor that has made over 200 sculptures depicting the Savior and other figures from the Bible and Book of Mormon. When I was at the First Vision sculpture the first week of my mission, that was her work.

Pretty incredible.

I mentioned the flu vaccination because, to be honest, it has been kicking my tail since Wednesday evening. Without being too graphic, there's been a lot of tissues used, a lot of medication taken, and some blood.

I think I'm on the rebound, though, and Elder Vess has been pretty darn patient  with me. I've managed to still be able to go to all of our appointments, church meetings, and such, though (as I'm not contagious)!

We went to the mission office today and President Evanson gave me some solid advice: "just don't die." I'm glad he knows me well enough to know I'm the type to appreciate that kind of humor.

I am being well taken care of down here, though; the mission staff, the members, my companion, and especially my Father in Heaven have helped keep me up and running. I know that no matter where we are at, in all times and in all places, no matter our state of health, finance, or motivation, Christ is always walking right next to us. In fact, during those most difficult times, He is likely carrying us.

I love you all and hope life is treating you well!

Tchau,
Elder Lindsay

"In ev’ry condition—in sickness, in health,
In poverty’s vale or abounding in wealth,
At home or abroad, on the land or the sea—
As thy days may demand, as thy days may demand,
As thy days may demand, so thy succor shall be.

Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed,
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid.
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by my righteous, upheld by my righteous,
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand."
