"You Know Who Else Couldn't Get A Job? The Widow Of Nain."
Boa tarde familia e amigos,
I've just got to start off by talking about the highlight of the week: our baptism! When we asked which Elder he wanted to perform the baptismal ordinance, he said "Flip a coin!" We got back to the apartment, and I asked Elder Vess if he just wanted to perform the baptism as he had been working with him for a while. His response? "I already flipped it, you won!"
Needless to say, I wasn't going to argue with that. That was a huge motivational, "light at the end of the tunnel," feeling as we went throughout our week.
The service was incredible, and the Spirit had such a strong presence there. I was worried about not getting him completely under or slipping or something like that, but it all worked out! We sang "Amazing Grace" and "I Surrender All," and those that spoke did a fantastic job.
As we sat next to each other after the ordinance, he told me he was feeling a joy that he had never before felt in his life.
That's what it's all about.
The power of the Holy Ghost is real.
I know I've said it before, but (almost all of) the folks down here are wonderful; those that feed us, those that allow us to come into their homes and share messages, those who allow us to serve.
That's one thing I'm beginning to realize we'll do plenty: service. This week we've helped move vending machines across town, lay sod, clear yards of brush.
While you may think I'm crazy for saying this, I'm so grateful for these opportunities. We get to connect with folks and build REAL relationships with them in ways that just wouldn't happen otherwise.
Other than that, much of the work has consisted of knocking doors, meetings, and sharing!
We will have the opportunity, as a mission, to visit the Mount Timpanogos Temple this week. I didn't know that was a possibility as a missionary, so I am so stoked for that. I've only ever gone inside the Billings one, so this will be a great experience!
Com amor,
Elder Lindsay
